Retropharyngeal abscess

Treatment: Surgical drainage of the abscess and high-dose intravenous antibiotics are used to treat the infection. The airway needs to be protected from becoming completely blocked by the swelling. Expectations (prognosis): Full recovery is expected following prompt treatment.
