Risks

Risks for retinal detachment surgery include:

  • Bleeding
  • Detachment that is not completely fixed (may require more surgeries)
  • Increase in eye pressure (elevated intraocular pressure)
  • Infection

General anesthesia may be needed. The risks for any anesthesia are:

  • Reactions to medications
  • Problems breathing
