Normal Values

Results are normal when no mycobacterial organisms are found.


What abnormal results mean

Abnormal results show that the stain is positive for:

  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis
  • Mycobacterium avium-intracellular
  • Other mycobacteria or acid-fast bacteria
