This test is only performed when there is an abnormal tissue area.

• Cancer (such as squamous cell carcinoma )
• Fungal infections (such as candida)
• Histoplasmosis
• Oral lichen planus
• Precancerous sore (leukoplakia)
• Viral infections (such as Herpes simplex)
