Amniocentesis

Culture - amniotic fluid; Culture - amniotic cells

Risks are minimal, but may include:

• Infection or injury to the baby
• Miscarriage
• Leaking of amniotic fluid
• Vaginal bleeding

There may be alternatives to the amniocentesis. Discuss these other tests with your health care provider.
