• A tooth that is impacted or abscessed.
• Mononucleosis.
• A sexually transmitted disease, including HIV.

• Tuberculosis.
• Rheumatoid arthritis.
• Certain cancers, such as leukemia, Hodgkin's disease or non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
